Young Ones 2018 - Merit

At its founding, Google made a promise that would become its code of conduct: "Don't be evil."

One of the greatest evils in our society is the opioid epidemic. The mission was to find a way to get users to see a doctor before they die of an overdose.

Every opioid user has a tell: their eyes. More specifically, their pupils are too constricted to appear red in flash photos.

EyeWatch identifies opioid users with Google Photos' image recognition capabilities and warns them before it's too late.

Watch the video to learn how it works.
